Google In Lawsuit With Dutch Webmaster.

I wanted to let you know that in my country Google is holding a lawsuit against a webmaster in my country. Nothing really interesting aside that the lawsuit is about 4 domains the webmaster Marcel van der Werf owns which has the name Google in it:

Googledatingsite.nl - Googleonlineshop.com
Googlecommunity.nl - Googlestore.nl

Marcel has some valid points on why he goes to court with Google, he said: "Every brand is linked to a product, not to the alphabet. The name in the address bar of your browser is only a way to reach a computer. It is mere an indication and not a brand."

His hosting provider send a letter to van der Werf stating that he must cease his domains. On which van der Werf moved his server to Russia.
He added: "The Americans have nothing to say in Russia."

I really think it is madness to sue everyone on a few letters only. Or on a color, a few years back we had a lawsuit in the Netherlands about the color orange used by two completely different companies namely: a phone company and an airline company. It' was pure madness. Still it would be interesting to see the outcome on this Google lawsuit.
