This example is based upon a technique that dates back since 2001. I wanted to show it to you how easy it is to spoof an Internet address with ASCII. Note that it was possible until the end of 2006 to execute this vector successfully. It still works as a technical example but the conversion is now being made in the status bar due to browser fixes. Old browsers are still vulnerable to this kind of phishing technique. Before 2006 you would not notice the difference and just showed you the spoofed URL in the status bar.
